We collect your old unwanted sofas and armchairs from anywhere on your property be it home or office and give you a waste transfer note so you know it's being recycled properly.
Don't dump your old sofa in landfill - let us take it to be dismantled and recycled! Every reuseable part of your old sofa will be separated and recycled where possible.
It's probably cheaper than you think to be enviromentally friendly and we even offer two hour collection slots to suit your busy lifestyle.
So if you are planning to buy a new sofa why not have us collect the old one just before the new one is delivered? We will arrive within the agreed time slot, remove your old sofa and take it for recycling, leaving you with one less thing to worry about!
How does it work?
Just point at your sofa
- and it's GONE!

Help with ways to get rid of an old sofa...
Chosen a new sofa? Exciting.
Have you worked out how to dispose of the old one? Here are some options:
Pass it on
Look at your sofa with a critical eye and bear in mind your own reasons for replacing it. You could sell it on eBay, Shpock or in the local paper. You could offer to give it away on Gumtree, Freecycle or Facebook. If your sofa is ready for a new life, these are great options. Do bear in mind that the new owner may expect you to arrange delivery.
If your sofa is not stained or worn, and it has a fire label, but you don’t want to sell it, you could donate it to charity. They might take it away for free if they think they can re-sell it. You could try The British Heart Foundation or the St Paul’s Centre. They are (rightly) fussy about condition and can’t be very flexible with times and dates.
Throw it away
When you need to throw something away but it won’t fit in the wheelie bin, you take it to the household waste centre. You pay for this service through your council tax. If you can get the sofa to the tip yourself, you can dump it for free at some tips. If the sofa won’t fit in your car, you’ll need a van, pickup, 4x4 or trailer. Be careful because if you turn up in a van, pickup, 4x4 or trailer you will need a household waste permit to prove your sofa is domestic waste.
If you can’t get your unwanted sofa to the household waste centre, you might be able to arrange to pay for the council to collect it from your house. Both Cheshire East and Cheshire West have a system for collecting large waste items but my experience is that the service is not always available. Make sure you have clarified how much it will cost, when they will come to collect it, and if there are any special rules about leaving it outside or timings.
Book a sofa removal
If you need to arrange something a bit quicker, an alternative to the council is to use a junk removal specialist or a company that collects old furniture.
Take care that the service you use is safe and legal. Businesses that carry waste for you are not allowed to use the council tip. Fly-tipping is illegal, attracts fines of up to £5,000, and YOU are responsible for ensuring that your waste is collected and disposed of by a licensed operator. The licence is issued by the Environment Agency and they make sure that we recycle responsibly. Always ask to see the license before you let anyone take your junk.
If you’d like Monster Junk to take your sofa away, give us a ring and we’ll tell you how much it will cost and when we can come and collect it. We can dispose of any furniture, large or small, including settees, sofa-beds, corner-sofas and armchairs. You can read our reviews here.
